Commercial Food Waste Recycling in New Mexico

Every week, Soilutions helps divert more than 500,000 pounds of food waste from New Mexico landfills through partnerships with grocers across the state, as well as local restaurants, schools, and businesses. Instead of rotting in a landfill, this material is transformed into nutrient-rich compost - just as nature intended - that supports healthier soil and landscapes across our region.

Our leading edge depackaging technology allows us to recycle food waste both in and out of packaging, making participation easier for businesses while expanding what can be kept out of the landfill.

As Soilutions celebrates our 30th anniversary, we’re expanding this effort. Our goal for 2026 is to welcome 30 new local business partners into our food-waste recycling program — and we invite you to join us.

Why Businesses Join

  • “I am personally really passionate about sustainability, and it’s something I really appreciated about M’tucci’s from the beginning. This just takes us to the next level, and we would love to see this model be taken by restaurant companies all over the state.”

Howie Kaibel, Minister of Culture, M'Tucci's Restaurant Group
