Derived from non-GMO alfalfa, Soilutions' Alfalfa Meal (2.5-0-2.5) is a great plant-based source of nutrients that is particularly helpful for roses, but performs magic on all flowering plants and herbs. Alfalfa contains the growth hormone Triacontanol, a natural hormone that may help your plants grow hardier. Alfalfa's deep roots allow the plant to absorb plentiful micro-nutrients which are stored in the plant matter and returned to your soil and plants when used as a soil conditioner or fertilizer. As a top dressing or mixed into the top few inches of soil, alfalfa meal stimulates both vegetative growth and flowering blooms by providing micro-nutrients that may be diminished in heavily planted or depleted soils, or as a simple alfalfa tea to make the nutrients more readily available for fast feeding.

Suggested Application Rate:

5-10 lbs per 100 square feet gently scratched into the top few inches of soil. Add ¼ cup Alfalfa Meal per gallon of soil for new container gardens or potted plants.

As a side dressing, scratch 1/4-1/2 cup into the top few inches of soil per plant and water thoroughly. For established trees scratch in 1/2 cup per 2 inch diameter- apply over a large surface area for trees to ensure maximum exposure to feeding roots.

Alfalfa tea: mix 1/2-1 cup alfalfa meal with five gallons of water and stir. Let soak for 1-2 days then replace your regular watering with alfalfa tea or add to any compost tea recipe.
